Insurance

A week after my consult I got a voicemail from my surgeons nurse that said my Insurance has approved this surgery! I was so excited but also amazed at how quickly that went through. According to my nurse, my insurance company deems it medically necessary if you need at least 500 grams removed. If you read my first post, you'll remember the Dr said I'd need 1000 grams. I waited over the weekend to call back because I needed time to process this info with it all being so sudden. It was also Thanksgiving week and I had company coming to town. So, I put it on the back burner.

I called the office Monday after Thanksgiving and we scheduled my surgery. January 31st!
It is an outpatient procedure. It takes 2.5-3 hours and then one hr of observation after. I need Nathan to drive me and be home for the first two days. I won't be allowed to lift more than 5 lbs for about 4-6 weeks. I won't be able to drive for 10-14 days. I will have drains under my skin on each side to let the swollen fluid out and decrease swelling. When I go in for post op appt they will remove them. I told N he will be in charge of my Frankenstein boobs and drains. I can't deal with all that. Eek. I will be sleeping in a recliner afterwards because I have to stay elevated. Nathan is going to move it upstairs from the basement so I can still have TV and be in my own room.

After I scheduled my surgery and my Pre op appt. I started searching for other information and stories. I found a pretty good Facebook group of women who have gone or are going through the same thing. It's very informative and fun to see before and after photos. I ignore the bad posts for now cause I need to stay positive. Mentally, I go back and forth if the risk of anesthesia and surgery  is selfish because I have two kids. N says no, that my quality of life will be much higher and I can be more active with them. He's a great support when I have doubts. So as of now, I am just letting people know, trying not to obsess and just enjoying the holidays! Thanks for following along!

  1. 💞💞💞💞💞💞💞 Im so glad you have N to support you through all of this. From bringing up the recliner , the positive advice he gives you, and the after care. Im so excited you will bee able to have this done to help with your quality of life afterwards!! I can't even imagine the strain on your body because im a late bloomer that didn't bloom much lol but I imagine it's not easy. Even just cutting off hair can feel like shedding weight just imagine the lighter a feeling shedding off pounds of something stressing your back and neck. I support your decision in this and again im excited for any journey you go through that helps! Love you so much!!!

Surgery

I haven’t been on in a while but I wanted to update what happened with my surgery! We arrived at 11:45am for. 1:15 surgery time. I had to fast from midnight the night before, I could take an anti anxiety pill with one cup of water before 9:30 and that was it. We got there and checked in. I paid my copay which was pretty much my deductible since it’s January! Then we were called back in a little area that was curtained off with a hospital bed. I got my gown on and IV put in. No catheter! Thank you Jesus! Then we waited... it felt like forever, during that time my head anesthesiologists came by we talked about my many irrational fears (which they all reassured me would not happen) and then they asked if I had any issues with motion sickness. I said yes, and they gave me a nausea patch behind my ear (I wore it for three days) During the wait, I went to the bathroom twice with my saline bag because I get the nervous pee’s. Finally, my doctor arrived! a bit late but, ready to go! She pu...

Pre-Op Appointment

Hi friends! This week I had my pre op appt. I was extremely nervous and spent the night before jotting down any and every question I could think of into my notes app on my iPhone. I had no idea what to expect, except they told me I would be signing forms and getting some prescriptions. When I got in there the nurse handed me a stapled stack of papers that I had to read through, front and back, and initial each page. It listed every complication or side effect possible along with instructions and answered a lot of the surgery type questions. But not much of the recovery questions I had. back to the nurse.... she told me to get undressed from the waist up and put on the gown she laid out and the Dr. would be in and left the room. I was overwhelmed, I took out my glasses to read this booklet and took out my own mini notebook to jot things down as I read through this. The doctor and nurse arrived back in the office before I was done and they had my headless glamour shots with them. The Dr ...
