A week after my consult I got a voicemail from my surgeons nurse that said my Insurance has approved this surgery! I was so excited but also amazed at how quickly that went through. According to my nurse, my insurance company deems it medically necessary if you need at least 500 grams removed. If you read my first post, you'll remember the Dr said I'd need 1000 grams. I waited over the weekend to call back because I needed time to process this info with it all being so sudden. It was also Thanksgiving week and I had company coming to town. So, I put it on the back burner. I called the office Monday after Thanksgiving and we scheduled my surgery. January 31st! It is an outpatient procedure. It takes 2.5-3 hours and then one hr of observation after. I need Nathan to drive me and be home for the first two days. I won't be allowed to lift more than 5 lbs for about 4-6 weeks.
